Life.Love.Shirts. – A Collection Of Hardcore Clothing [Book]

This book documents an incredibly important aspect of hardcore’s culture that has, until now, not been documented in any print format: hardcore band t-shirts through the diligent collecting and cataloging of hardcore enthusiast Orhun Oner. The 200 pages of “Life.Love.Shirts.: A Collection Of Hardcore Clothing” features the colorful t-shirts that were bought and sold in the sweaty clubs of the ’80s and ’90s, many of which are extremely rare and fetch astronomical sums on the collector’s market. Many of the shirt photos are accompanied by stories from the bands, labels, and those who had a hand in the production and distribution.

V.A – The First Nine Years 7″ Box Set [5×7″]

“The First Nine Years” chronicles the modest beginning of the Bridge Nine record label. Spread over five 7″ records, these 29 bands become the soundtrack to the 128 page companion book packed with many never-before-seen photos, telling the story of how the label got its start, how relationships forged in high school lead to its earliest releases, and how each band was connected to the next by a single degree of separation as Bridge Nine’s reach expanded from a few local bands to having one of the most actively touring rosters in the underground, building awareness for the label worldwide.

 Bib – Moshpit [7″]

Bib mixes quick, full-chord riffs with crushing breakdowns. Vocals weave between child-like shrill barks, primordial grunts and pressure reducing singing. For their first release on Pop Wig Records, Omaha, NE-based Bib continues their streak of making sketchy-as-hell punk rock for straight-up weirdos. For fans of Pissed Jeans, Gag, Hoax, Warthog, and Culo. 7″ includes digital download.

Backtrack – Bad To My World [LP/Tape]

Backtrack returns with “Bad To My World,” their first album since 2014’s “Lost In Life.” Along with longtime producer Nick Jett (Terror), they entered the Wild Arctic studio to lay down 10 brand-new songs with Dean Baltulonis (Madball, No Warning). Backtrack continues in the classic NYHC tradition of bands like Madball, Killing Time and Outburst while still remaining fresh and injecting their own unique flavor into the timeless sound.

Mike Gitter – Xxx Fanzine (1983-1988): Hardcore & Punk In The Eighties [Book/Book+LP]

“xXx Fanzine (1983-1988): Hardcore & Punk In The Eighties” isn’t merely a collection of articles, reviews and photographs from one of hardcore America’s best-known fanzines. It’s a chronicle of punk’s evolution in the ’80s: a story of music and ideologies in motion. xXx’s story picks up while the first wave of hardcore was in full swing. Major players including Minor Threat had already released landmark records and bands were loading up station wagons to play now infamous venues like The Channel, A7 or D.C. Space. While based in Boston, MA, xXx’s main writer and editor, Mike Gitter, not only concentrated on his own city’s burgeoning scene, spearheaded by bands like S.S. Decontrol and DYS, but looked to other states and countries for xXx’s reportage. This 288-page book documents a time when hardcore and punk were not mutually exclusive and bands and cities had a chance to develop their own diverse and strident sounds.
